Trainers and assessors
We offer all-through training,
assessment, verification and accreditation for the City and Guilds awards and
certificates in assessment and quality assurance.
These units are known as the TAQA qualifications:
T…raining
A…ssessment
Q…uality
A…ssurance
These qualifications are for people
working in, or looking to enter roles in assessment and internal quality
assurance. They have been developed by LLUK to replace the Assessor and
Verifier (A and V) units. There are knowledge only units (titled
‘Understanding the…) which allow anyone who is interested in or needs to know
about assessment and quality assurance to acquire and prove their knowledge
about this process, without them needing to practice. These can be done as
stand alone units and also feature in each qualification as the sound basis for
professional practice.
Qualifications and Credit Framework
These units are part of the QCF framework, a credit based system which has replaced the National Qualifications Framework. The new framework assigns credit values to units and qualifications, allowing learners and centres to track progression and learning and skills more easily.
We are also happy to work in
partnership with client companies to deliver some or all of the services
associated with NVQ accreditation.
Understanding the Principles and Practices of Assessment (3 credits)
This level 3 award is a knowledge only unit for those in development as an assessor, for those who need to know about assessment practice but who are not currently practising, or for those who gained their assessor qualifications against previous frameworks and who are looking to upgrade their knowledge.
Assessing Competence in the Work
Environment (9 credits)
This two unit award combines the theory unit above with a practical unit involving real work assessments. We have tailored programmes leading to the accreditation of this award.
Understanding the Internal Quality
Assurance of Assessment Processes and Practice (6 credits)
This level 4 award is a knowledge only award for those who are in development as an internal quality assurance practitioner (previously known as an internal verifier), for those who need to understand the process but not necessarily be directly involved, or for those who qualified as verifiers some time ago and are looking to upgrade their knowledge.
The Internal Quality Assurance of Assessment Processes and Practice (12
credits)
This award is for practitioners who
conduct internal quality assurance of the assessment process from within a
centre or organisation.
